  Scientists Warn of Rising Oceans as Antarctic Ice Melts

  the collapse of large parts of the ice sheet in west antarctica appears to have begun and is almost certainly unstoppable, with global warming accelerating the pace of the disintegration, two groups of scientists reported monday.. the finding, which had been feared by some scientists for decades, means that a rise in global sea level of at least 10 feet may now be inevitable.

  the rise may continue to be relatively slow for at least the next century or so, the scientists said, but sometime after that it will probably speed up so sharply as to become a crisis.. this is really happening, said thomas p. wagner, who runs nasas programs on polar ice and helped oversee some of the research.

  In that case, I want to be President. But if we go back to the Garden of Eden state, we won’t be wearing any clothes, so how will anyone know? Perhaps I could get the epaulets tattooed on?

  Has she hit it right on the head? It might not be too difficult to love someone who disagrees with your religious/political views, but I find it hard to feel any love for the arsehole who stole by motorbike and wrecked it, and that’s pretty trivial compared to the stuff that’s been done to other people.

  I always find it somewhat amusing when Christians espouse that “Love” is the message of Christ, that Love is all you need – they conveniently ignore the other side of Christ, as did Ghandi. “Do not think I came to bring peace to the earth; I came to bring, not peace, but a sword. For I came to cause division, with a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.” (Matt 10:34-35).

  Yep, he certainly succeeded in doing that far more effectively than he did in spreading Love.

  i have lots and lots of watchtower literature... and i don't know what could be useful in the future to have as a reference or as a keeper.

  i am definitely keeping the 1993 and 1994 bound volumes of the awake!

  (no, we are not false prophets... down in the same page, the generation of 1914 will not pass... also the youths who put god the watchtower first).

  Personally I wouldn't burn it, I wish I had kept all of mine, but I left it with my first wife who's still in, and has probably thrown most of it out anyway. It may be "wall-to-wall BS" but it's one of our best tools in exposing that BS. Imagine if none of it existed anywhere anymore, how would we prove their lies?

  I'm surprised you're surprised - this has been on the cards for the past decade, it's just a matter of time. And I'm sure those geniuses in Brooklyn will come up with some new light to explain it – perhaps China is the 8th World Power that will destroy Babylon the Great, then the Watchtower could go back and join the UN.

  Are all JWs united in their beliefs?

  so i used to think that all witnesses believed the same exact thing but i have heard some claims that they believe things i'm not familiar with.

  I doubt very much if there is any religion on earth where all the adherents believe the same thing. In some this is tolerated, even encouraged, in others, like JWs of course, it's the opposite. Obviously JWs all believe the same core doctrines, (no trinity, no hell, no immortal spirit, these are the last days, the GB are semi-divine etc, etc), but there are bound to be differences on peripheral doctrine, because, as someone has already said, most of them don’t even know what the full set of doctrines is. And even is they did, they would still have to go back to the latest Watchtower on the subject to make sure their belief is up to date.
